She's gotten a little pickier with the food. Now she sticks her tongue out for a taste before opening her mouth for a bite. She really doesn't like eggs or fish, but she's still got pretty adventurous tastes. She likes a lot of things, even green olives. She prefers to feed herself, which of course, is messy. She drops a lot and likes to feed the dogs.

She was doing this think where she pops open her mouth with a bit of inward pressure to make a "pop" sound, and yesterday we realized what it was: kisses! Sometimes she'll do it when we kiss at her. It's really our first two-way communication.

She doesn't talk, but she communicates a lot. When she wants something, or sees me or her mom and wants to go there, she wiggles her arms very excitedly. But she's getting clingy; Joe and Jenny came over last weekend and whenever we tried to hand her over she would get very upset .

Still hasn't learned to crawl, though she's taken a lot of crawling steps, just a couple at a time. We put a carpet down in the living room because the wood floor is so slippery and hard but still... she feels uncomfortable in crawling position, and now totally comfortable sitting, hardly ever falls over. And now she goes easily into sitting. So she starts into crawling position, like to reach a toy or something, then... "um, I better sit". And she does.

She also loves to stand, and can do it very reliably if she has something to hang onto. If she's sitting, she'll grab at my fingers to lift her up to stand. She usually can't quite push herself into a standing position, but once up, she's pretty stable, and she loves it.

Also last night was the first time she passed the "object permanence" test, which I have tried on her fairly often all along. She had a toy and I hid it under my hand. Every time before, as far as she was concerned, it didn't exist But this time she knew: hey my toy is under your hand, give me that back!
