After they fill in their companions on what they saw there, they decide to send out another exploring party, again invisible, but this time sending those with darkvision. Hooflepoof loans his Cloak of Invisibility to Elbolin, and Elfo casts Invisibility on himself, Black Barry, and Karat, and the four head back out to explore.

This time they travel a little further to the north, where they see some firelights twinkling. The area to the north, a little upstream, is occupied by 14 crudely built round huts. It's a generally muddy area, and the huts stink like Bullywugs, so they don't go into them, just take a loop around to see what's there, and then they travel south, back to the open doorway. They walk across the planks to the doorway on the east side of the room, and then follow a long narrow passage about a hundred feet to the east. There the passage makes a turn to the north, and opens up to a cavernous inside space, like the central room of a castle. There are three closed doors on nearby walls, and in the open space are three creatures: one Bullywug, who is idly watching a Lizardfolk, who appears to be playing with a Giant Lizard on a leash.

Without warning, Elfo throws a fireball into the open space near the three creatures. The Bullywug and Giant Lizard are killed instantly, and the Lizardfolk, injured, staggers through an open doorway on a far wall.
