Barry sees an interesting bug and chases it into the woods, but he is unable to catch it, and it disappears into the foliage. He returns to the group in tears.
The twilight is now fading, and the outside group walks around the Carnath Roadhouse to the main gate, and casually saunters in. They see a large cart in the process of unloading, with Bog Luck and Ardred supervising as usual. Bog notices them immediately, and calls out rather casually as soon as Hooflepoof is within vocal range, "Hey, Salbon. What are you guys up to?"
"Good," says Hooflepoof, not being very attentive to the conversation. "How about you?"
"Just unloading. You guys out taking a stroll?"
"Yep, just looking at the scenery. What are you unloading?"
"The usual. Mostly road-building supplies."
"That's cool."
So Hooflepoof, Barry, Bilbo and Leosin join the others who are still lingering up on the balcony.
They decide to try to investigate the carts a little more. Elfo casts Invisibility over himself, Barry, and Leosin, and they go down and snoop on the unloading of the cart. They can't see much, just heavy bags, closed boxes, and wood and gravel and tools for road-building.
Elbolin heads over to the cafeteria, where Gristle Pete is cooking grumpily, and a number of dirty-looking humans and dwarves hang around in anticipation of dinner.
"What's for dinner, Pete?" asks Elbolin.
"You'll figure it out when you get it. I'm sure you'll like it."
"Smells good," says Elbolin, and then settles down at their usual table near the top of the stairs. The others join him soon after. |
