Not a real plot, and weak character development, but a lot of real war and real war issues, as shown by someone who was really there. Follows a group of soldiers through numerous battles and other experiences. Pretty brutal, almost too realistic. But that's war. And it even gets a little philosophical. Not for kids or for the faint of heart.
