Just Use the Tomato Smasher | | fritz | Apr 22, 2024 | I suspect it will be hard to understand why it's funny - but she's barely three ("cwee") and doesn't even have all her sounds yet. Even complete sentences seem like a stretch, let alone complex ideas.
Tonight we were going around as we do at bedtime, saying goodnight to everybody (by which we mean "everything"). When we passed through the garage, I saw that she had left her toy cooking pot and wooden spatula in the garage. I picked it up and said "we'd better bring this back in the house so it won't get lost, and you'll want to make some soup and you won't know where it is."
She said "yeah, I'll say 'I want my wooden spatula' and I'll 'cwy', and you'll say 'here's a tomato smasher, you can just use that, and I'll say 'I don't want a tomato smasher, I want my wooden spatula!'".
(I don't know where she got 'tomato smasher', as far as I know there is no such tool. But if we had one, she is completely correct about how the conversation would probably go.) | Next: Why? |
