Amber just loves water so much right now, to the point of obsession. She loves to be in the rain, splash in the puddles, and if you sit her on the side of the sink, she's figured out how to turn it on, and she'll play in the stream as long as you will let her.

Yesterday we went out to dinner in Lake Oswego, and near the restaurant was a fountain, of a kind that makes just a big upward bubbling stream, only about three feet high, but probably a foot in diameter. She saw it from about 50 feet away, instantly honed in on and made a beeline in that direction. She can't really run yet, actually can barely walk, but she walked as fast as her legs would go in a straight line, directly to the fountain. We followed close behind, seeing what she would do next. She arrived at the fountain and climbed up on the short wall enclosing the pool, and we had to grab her before she jumped right in, as she squirmed to escape us. It was at least a foot deep, probably would have been up to her chest.

So we had to stop her, and she was not happy about it. She desperately needed to play in that fountain, and she cried about it all the way back to the car. We set her down on the sidewalk one time, several blocks away from the fountain at that point and out of view, but she nonetheless started off in that direction, with or without us. We let her walk a little, but without the fountain in view, I think she was less certain where she was going - but she was going the right way, and she definitely still knew what she wanted.
