He gets out his thieves' tools and attempts to disarm the trap. It takes him a couple of tries with all the dexterity he can muster, but he manages to get it open. Inside the wardrobe, Black Barry finds mostly fancy Cult of the Dragon regalia. He takes a purple robe, which is a little too large but fits him anyway, and puts it on.

Also in the room, on a table beside the bed, he finds 6 gems, and a 2-foot tall statuette of a black dragon, made from actual dragon scales and claws, with ruby eyes and diamond teeth. It looks like quite a special piece, but also rather fragile. He pulls a blanket off the bed, cuts it up with his dagger, and uses it to wrap up the statuette, stashing it in his pack.

Meanwhile, the night is getting late. Back at the camp, Bilbo builds a fire, and rolls out his bedroll nearby. Hooflepoof doesn't have a bedroll, so he builds a bed of leaves and moss, and also settles down for a night in the mere. Gourbain, Nars, and Leosin do the same.
