The adventurers stand around looking awkward, and finally Leosin speaks up. "I'm here to work, but I've been on the road quite a while, and in need of a good rest. So if it's ok with you, I'll pay for the first day and stay as a tourist. Then I'll work for my wage." The rest of the group mutters that they'll do the same.

"Arright," says Bog Luck. "Are you all t'gether? How many rooms you want?"

Bilbo asks, "How many rooms do you have?"

"Well, I'd have to check the book. We're sure to have room for you, but not enough for ya to live like kings in yer own rooms. Most of the rooms'll sleep 4 to 6."

Elbolin speaks up. "Well, we all know each other, so you can room us however you like."

"All right, I gotta go unload the carts, make yourselves comfortable, I'll send Ardred over in a sec," and Bog Luck goes back outside to where the carts have been waiting.

"Leosin," says Elbolin, "I hope you don't mind us saying that we know you."

"That's ok," says Leosin jokingly, "as long as you'll fight for me if I get in any trouble."

"Well, if they're not too scary..." says Elbolin.

Meanwhile, Jamna Gleamsilver has been hanging around, not saying anything, but acting like she's basically part of the group. Hooflepoof takes the opportunity to greet her. "Hi, Jamna," he says.

"Hi Salbon," she says, almost in a whisper. "What's your plan?"

"We don't have a plan, really. I think we'll just work here for a bit and keep an eye on the cultists."

"Is that your leader?" she asks, indicating Leosin.

"We don't have a leader," says Hooflepoof.

"Is he with you?"

"We know him, yeah. We're on the same side."

Just then, Bog Luck enters through the big barn doors, leading the horses attached to one of the carts. With him is the same rough-hewn human that he directed to watch the carts outside, and Bog directs him toward the adventurers. He comes over and says "ok, you guys need some rooms?"

"Yep," answers Hooflepoof cleverly.

"Right this way," he says, directing them toward a room in the far corner, but stops them at the door. "Wait here," he says. After a minute he returns with a large log book, and a cash box, and sets them down on a small table that stands just outside the room, apparently for that purpose. "You want upstairs or downstairs?"

"Top," says Hooflepoof.

"Good choice," answers the man, "not so many rats up there. But unfortunately I have only one room open up there. It sleeps six. So we'll need three of you to sleep downstairs."

Elbolin, Black Barry, and Gourbain agree to sleep in the downstairs room. They all pay the man for their nights' stay, and he leads them to their rooms. "Settle in," he says, you've got a few minutes before the chow bell."

The rooms are spartan, but comfortable enough for a roadhouse in the middle of nowhere. Elbolin, after picking himself out a bed, heads upstairs to check out the other room. "Hi guys," he says, "if you need any rats let me know." Then, to Leosin, who is sitting on his bed adjusting his sock, "have you seen anything interesting?"

"Not yet," says Leosin. I'm pretty sure that some of what's on those carts is dragon loot, and we've got to watch how it's unloaded."

"There's a cart being unloaded right now," says Elbolin.

"Yeah I know, that's what I'm going to do," says Leosin, "as I soon as I fix my sock here. It was all bunched up." He finishes with his sock, puts his boot back on, fumbles around for something in his pack, and then heads out onto the balcony, followed by Elbolin. Leosin pulls out a pipe, and calls down to Bog Luck who is directing the cart unloading. "Mind if I smoke?" he asks, holding up his pipe.

"I don't care what ya do, as long as ya don't burn down the place," answers Bog.

Leosin lights up his pipe, and casually leans on the railing as if he's doing nothing but smoking his pipe. Taking his lead, Elbolin acts like he's just hanging out chatting with Leosin. "Seems like it's gonna rain," he says, "I can feel it in my bones."

"Hope not," says Leosin, "working on the road seems less fun in the rain."

But of course, what they are really doing is watching the unloading process. Bog Luck supervises it personally, checking everything as it is unloaded, and directing where it is to go. Packages that are obvious building supplies, he directs to be placed in piles or stacks of similar items around the floor. Some boxes, he pulls to the side, opens with a crowbar, and peeks inside before directing where they are to go. Any items or crates to go into the storage room are handed off to one of a couple of workers, who seem to be the only ones allowed into that space. One of them is the burly human who assigned their rooms.
