While most of the group stays hidden, the invisible ones - Karat, Elfo, and Elbolin - sneak over to the opposite side of the campsite, where they had spotted the cultists in the bushes. As soon as they get close, Karat calls out to them, "hey, what are you guys doing?"

The leading cultist answers by attacking toward the sound with his spear, dealing Karat a minor wound. She responds immediately by grabbing him, overpowering him, and dragging him about ten feet away to the south.

Elbolin shouts out to the others "The attack has begun!" and launches his own assault on the cultists, and within a few seconds the forest is filled with the sound of the clashing of swords and spears. Black Barry fires from his tree damaging one enemy, and Bilbo rushes over to join the melee. Hooflepoof also runs toward the battle, getting close enough to kill one cultist with his shortbow. Elfo and Elbolin also each bring one down, and the fight continues.

Karat interrogates the captured cultist, asking "who are you and why are you attacking us?"

"Praise Tiamat's Glory!" he answers. "Give up Salbon or you will all die!"
