The adventurers are happy to see each other, and to share what happened while they were apart. Elfo shares the letter from Leosin, and Hooflepoof is very happy to hear that his Cloak of Invisibility isn't stolen or missing, though it will apparently take some effort to find it again, and going to Elturel immediately becomes his obsession.

The others are interested in this remaining dragon egg, though they are intimidated by the enemies guarding it, especially the roper. They talk through a few different plans and variants of plans, and decide that with invisibility and Hooflepoof's Bag of Holding, if they are careful, they may be able to sneak in there and get away with the egg before anybody notices.

So they all move down to the shrine room to prepare. They say a few makeshift prayers to the dragon gods, as best they know how, and empty the Bag of Holding, placing the loot on the floor in the shrine room. Elfo casts Invisibility over Karat, Elbolin, and Elfo, since they have darkvision to explore the dark cavern. Black Barry is still invisible from the potion he drank a few minutes previous.

Very sneakily, the invisible ones tiptoe down into the cavern and locate the egg, guarded on each side by guard drakes. They can't tell if the roper is here, among the stalagmites, but they suspect he is. They very quietly slip the Bag of Holding over the egg, and then roll it over so it is fully enclosed. The drakes start to look around suspiciously, but they don't know who or what to attack. Just as sneakily, but with a little more haste, the adventurers hoist the bag and creep back into the shrine room. They have the egg! The drakes are still sniffing around the room, trying to figure out what has happened.

Back in the shrine room, they pick up the loot that they had set aside, and add it to the Bag of Holding, and start making their way back toward the cave entrance. They pass through the tunnel to the north, and the kobolds' barracks, which is still empty. Up the stairs they go, and into the drake nursery. Just as they are about to exit by the passage to the south, five cultists enter from that way. They seem to be taken by surprise at what they see, but they quickly block the exit, and one of them asks "what is going on here? what's with all these dead kobolds?"

Bilbo answers "I don't know what happened, I just found them this way and was going to find somebody."

"We know there are traitors among us. How do we know it isn't you?" asks the cultist.

"Well how do we know it isn't you?" retorts Bilbo. The lead cultist looks around him at his cultist comrades, and apparently decides that he believes in them more than this mouthy stranger. They all draw their weapons.

Black Barry and Elbolin choose to remain invisible, and stay out of the fray. The remaining adventurers attack the cultists, and are able to defeat them fairly easily, although Bilbo takes a pretty big strike from one of them.
