I'm on a jury. There are two "perps" to deal with. One is apparently obvious, we all agree. The second one is going to be more complicated.

The other jurists are a strange, cartoonish lot. I mean literal cartoons, like these three different-colored cat characters, like cheap chinese stuffed animals, that sit beside each other on the couch.

There is one character who is popular, but strangely ugly. He has a monstrous nose, which always has a bit of snot seeping out of it. I wonder why people like him; it seems like something about his personality.
